CHIPLEY SCOTTISH FESTIVAL AND HIGHLAND GAMES

Do you know about your Scottish heritage? You can learn more about it at the upcoming Scottish Festival and Highland Games on November 19, 2022. The event will be hosted by the First Presbyterian Church of Chipley, a local church dedicated to preserving Scottish culture in the Panhandle. At this festival for all ages, you'll have the chance to meet other Scots-Americans, enjoy traditional music, and watch dance performances.

If that's not enough there are also athletic competitions like caber tossing (large logs) and throwing stones, as well as sheaf tossing. What better way is there to spend a Saturday afternoon than learning about your roots?

The town of Chipley is only about 45 minutes from Dothan and Panama City. It is a little over an hour west of Tallahassee.

This year’s Honored Clan is Clan Bell North America. Other clans are invited to attend as well.

Entertainment

Music this year will be filled with moving bagpipe and drum performances.

The event will have clans present from all over the panhandle of Florida as well as Alabama.

The festival will feature vendors, bagpipe and drum music and the highly entertaining traditional Highland games. Members of different clans will exhibit their skills in events such as weight over bar, caber throwing, Braemar stone throw and others.

The sounds of bagpipes and drums will be on hand for musical performances along with Ennis Pruitt and newcomers this year, Jig to a Milestone.
